Finding Gate 1 Travel Deals & Discounts

Gate 1 Travel is one of the leading tour operators for senior and mature travelers, offering escorted tours and independent travel around the world.
On this page, Thrifty Senior Traveler shares tips for finding the best Gate 1 Travel deals, discounts, promo savings and last-minute offers.
We’ll also explain when it makes sense to compare Gate 1 with other tour operators and what first-time travelers should know before booking. The goal is simple: help you save money, avoid surprises and feel more confident about your first Gate 1 Travel experience.
My Tips For Finding The Best Gate 1 Travel Prices
I've been traveling internationally for more than 50 years, visiting all seven continents. I've booked my own travel and traveled with various tour companies.
Since 2005, I've carefully shopped the tour company market. So I've had plenty of experience comparing organized tours.
While I have more than 20 trips with one major senior tour company, I have friends who regularly travel with Gate 1 Travel. And we regularly compare notes about costs, what's included, what went well and what didn't.
Cost is always important. That's why it's smart to ask; "How do I find the best Gate 1 Travel price before I book?"

Gate 1 Has Offered Some Serious Promotional Discounts
Gate 1 has used several different types of promotions rather than one permanent discount program. Its “The Deal” is a weekly subscriber offer, while other promotions have included dollar-off codes, destination-specific discounts, early-booking offers and special-event sales.
A good historical example is Gate 1's 2024 Black Friday promotion: discounts ranged from $100 off a $1,000 booking to $3,000 off a $15,000 booking. In 2025, Gate 1 again ran Black Friday promotions with similar spend-based discounts, plus special one-day bonuses for destinations such as Italy, Costa Rica and Africa.
How to find them: The places worth checking are Gate 1's Specials/Featured Specials page, its weekly email called The Deal, and major promotional periods such as Black Friday. Some travelers on Reddit specifically report waiting for Gate 1's Black Friday sale before booking.
Solo Travelers Should Pay Attention to Single-Supplement Promotions
Gate 1 normally prices many tours based on double occupancy, so the single supplement can be an important part of the real cost for a solo traveler.
As a result, comparing solo travel opportunities with other comparable tour companies can often save you significant money.
But Gate 1 has periodically offered promotions that waive the single supplement entirely on selected departures.

Thrifty Senior Traveler Savings Tip
For Solo Travelers
For example, in September 2025 Gate 1 offered 100% single-supplement savings on select tours using a promotional code. In May 2026, it ran another promotion waiving the single supplement on selected escorted tours and river cruises. Gate 1's promotional language also says solo travelers receive their own standard double room rather than being required to share with another traveler.
There are also traveler reports of Gate 1 offering substantial percentage discounts that can make a meaningful difference to the solo price. But because the offers are temporary and exclusions can be extensive, don't assume a single-supplement waiver applies to every Gate 1 trip. Check the specific departure.
Last-Minute Gate 1 Deals Are Worth Watching
Gate 1 maintains a dedicated Last Minute Deals section, and this is one of the more interesting places for bargain hunters to watch. The discounts aren't simply generic coupon codes: Gate 1 has offered specific reductions on specific departures that are approaching their travel dates.
For example, recent 2026 offers have included savings of 23% to 39% on selected tours, including Tastes of England, Tastes of Scotland, Portugal & Spain and Irish Highlights. Gate 1 states that these offers are subject to availability and can change because of airfare fluctuations. It also notes that percentage discounts are calculated from the land-only price, not airfare and certain additional services.
That last point is important. A headline saying “30% off” does not necessarily mean 30% off the entire trip. Look at the actual final price before deciding whether the deal is meaningful.
Gate 1 Has Several Ways for Existing Customers to Save
When it comes to giving travelers incentives to take future trips, I admit that I have not found a better program than the one offered by Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT). I guess that's why I've taken 20 trips with them (to date).
Gate 1 doesn't appear to have a direct equivalent of OAT's long-term frequent-traveler credit system. Instead, it has several smaller programs that can benefit people who travel with Gate 1 repeatedly.
Its current Refer A Friend program gives a new customer $50 off a first tour or cruise, while the referring past customer receives $50 off a subsequent new booking. Gate 1 also offers a $25 Feedback Credit after a traveler completes its post-trip survey, and a 5% discount on the remaining balance when the final payment is made by check or bank deposit.
There is also a Friends & Family program under which bringing 10 companions can earn the 11th traveler free land services, subject to eligibility.
Solo Travelers: Gate 1 Travel
Versus Overseas Adventure Travel
Gate 1 Travel has periodically waived some or all of the single supplement on selected departures. Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT) takes a different approach, offering senior tours with no single supplements. In many cases, the itineraries are very similar.
Before booking Gate 1 Travel, it may pay to compare OAT as another option.
Jesse Slome has traveled with OAT more than 20 times and can provide a referral that gives qualifying first-time travelers $100 off per person.
